Adisham Monastery - Haputale
A large eye-catching bungalow built by a tea estate manager with material
got down from England in 1931. This place is now occupied by the St. Benedictine
monks and opened to the public on weekends. Many visitors come here to see
the beauty of the place which is well maintained, and you can see the library
of the first owner’s book collection.
Dowa Rock Temple
Dowa Rock Temple is located by the side of Badulla–Bandarawela main
road, 6 km from Bandarawela. It has colourful murals and inscriptions
of the 1st Century B.C., which bring out stories of the Buddha’s
life.
The unfinished rock-cut standing Buddha of 8m height is the main attraction
here.
